We are paying about 500-600 a month for one T1 line at work.

I know it costs a lot, but the cheapest I ever found one for was 1k a month.
And you could host a mirage server on DSL..

A T1 is only 1.5mbs up and down each. The big thing about a T1 is that it's usually dedicated, meaning you get the full connection.
