transparency...within transparency

okay this might sound kinda stupid.but idk....


in my game, i want shadows..but i dont want the shadow to be black under neath..any way to make my shadow transparent when it goes against the ground tiles? so u can see through the shadow?

Or you can use DX8. It's veeery fast but it takes a while to understand and change MS to dx8.

Or you can just do it the easy way and use a black/transparent checkerboard. The results look just fine and there is no extra/slow programming.

The new Essence will have alpha blending.
