Vista & Runtime Error 429
#1
Alright guys,

Just to clarify before I start:
  • - I have installed DirectX v9.0c (which includes the directX7 runtimes)
    - I have placed dxvb.dll in the client root directory
    - We are using system memory in the client
    - UAC has been turned off completely, and I have tried running the client with administrator rights

On my work machine, and for several users on my forums using vista, we are prompted with runtime error 429, "ActiveX component cannot create ActiveX object".

Really doing my head in now, has anyone managed to get around this issue, if so please can you tell me the steps you have taken so if at all possible I can automate it in my client installation process.

Cheers,
Fox

Make sure that dx7vb.dll or dx8vb.dll is in your system32 folder and registered. I had to manually do it to get it to work.

Cheers mate I'll give it a go tomorrow. I'm assuming if you run a batch file as Administrator you can move / register things with it, if that's the case I'll throw together a vista batch troubleshooting package for the players.

Here's to hoping it works :]
