A new gui, no matter how bland, I think would be wonderful. I can't tell you how many people I run into thinking Mirage Source is Mirage because of the GUI. Especially many people reference them as one and the same .. ergh.
What's on the GUI graphics really shouldnt matter much, as that should be one of the things the developer changes
For instance, in my new project, the gui have the website plastered all over it. Reason being, I figured nobody would want that shown in their game, so they would need to change the GUI.
