It shouldn't be that hard. When the player joins the game, generate steps until next battle. When that battle ends, generate new steps. Subtract a step every movement. When the steps = 0 then send the battle. Send the map NPC's, make a variable for the turn based and let the stronger player/npc go first. Seem like this would just be some small "rewiring" and you've got a turn based battle system. Pokemon
