History of Mirage

Can anyone explain to me the history of Mirage and the engine's based upon it? So far I read, if I remember this correctly, that the process went like this:
Mirage
Konfuze
Elsyium
Eclipse
Xtreme Worlds

I just wish to know for curiosity's sakes.
