Why don't you want to share your stuff?

I think you are 100% correct.

Rofl. Release all your code as public domain, like me.

Means people can do whatever the fuck they want with it, and you have no ties to it.

Might seem like people can just rip off your game, but if they're taking your code in the first place, you know deep down that there game won't be half as good as yours.

A lot of the time, I don't release code, I create because it's so n00bish, I'll probably get made fun of, and others probably won't use it. Smile

Lea Wrote:I get asked for help with things quite often. One thing that really bugs me is when people refuse to post ideas or source code on the forums for help.

Why don't you want to post your source code? You think it's special? Unique? Get off your high horse and realize your shit isn't even a wee bit special if it doesn't work. It isn't special if people never see it. If you need help, post the code. The code says more than any description, especially when you're too dumb to turn a textual bug fix into code. Even if it does work, post it. People will learn from it, and their game will be better because of it. That's all that matters in the long run around here anyways, we're a place to learn and have fun. Help people out. "Gracious Professionalism" is a great term coined by FIRST Robotics. Compete like crazy, but share your ideas and the things you do with your opponents. They'll benefit by learning from you, and you'll benefit by having to learn to stay ahead. Win-win.

Why don't you want to share your ideas/stories/plans? You think they're special? Unique? Get off your high horse and realize your shit isn't even a wee bit special if no one likes it. It isn't special if people never see it. If you have some thoughts, post them and get some feedback. Do you think game designers in the "real world" say "I have this great game idea but I need someone to make it for me but I am not going to tell them what I want!" Yeah fucking right. Post your shit people.

So the next time you ask for help, you better link me to an in depth forum post on the subject that include CODE. Meaningful code. If you post your entire project for a "Subscript Out Of Range" error, I'll personally put your head on backwards.

So the next time you have the next great game idea, and just need a programmer, graphics artist, mapper, musician, and moderator team, you better post your story and ideas and what makes your game so awesome. In the post. If I have to PM you to see what you have in mind, I'm going to delete your post because you don't deserve to waste our bandwidth.

I don't make fun of people for not knowing how to code. If you act like a retard, or just don't try and learn then I'll dislike you, but never make fun.

Lea's not telling everyone to post their game's source. Just saying that we can't tell you whats wrong if all you're gonna post is a parse from a packet.

If you mean the source I think it brought tons of people to start programming. And it also brought a new perspective to MS since before that there was like 0 features in all games/engines.

...XD; That's a first, but thanks. It's too late at night/early in the morning for me to even be awake at this point, so I'll at least point you in the right direction.

Have a check for all players currently online who aren't the recently-married ones. (Possibly a temporary stat value or an array of sort to keep those two safe.) Once the server has all the names, take a leaf from the /kill command tutorial and write it up to where it handles the function for everyone else, as opposed to just a single target.

a for loop Smile

just loop through all players, if online AND not recently married, kill.

but then again, i don't know hardly anything about the MS source
