Help with MySQL Integration

Was wondering if anyone could help me integrate that for data storage rather than a text file. I think it would be easiest since im thinking about creating a program to keep track of player contracts and so on for American Football (Madden 10). If I could get helping connecting, saving data, removing data, displaying data, so on the basics would be appreciated.
