GravNet (Indie Game Version of Steam)
#1
Gravity Network is a way for all indie developers, making any type and scale of game, to publish and sell their game.

Gravity Network works like this:

-You submit your game to the site (be it a VB6 MMORPG, a 3D FPS, or another revamped version of Pong)
-You set the price and plan you would like to get paid with. (Monthly plan that allows users to download as many games as they want on the site with a cut going to developers, a set price, or free to play)
-People download your game through the site or the application.
-You get paid. The service subtracts a small percentage for hosting the game on the site.

By putting a lot of indie games in one place your game gets a lot more exposure. Also you do not need to look for a publisher because you will be your own.

What I need:

Web Developers
Requires knowledge of PHP and Joomla (unless you want to make your own cms Smile )

vb.net or C++ Programmers (Depends on which I get more of)
You will create the application to download the games as well as an instant messenger/community that pulls info from the site.

Game Developers
I need people who want to publish their games with this service. The more people we get, the better our service looks and the more exposure and money your game will get.

Anyone who has feedback on this project, please reply.

If you are interested post below and email me at stealth@nighthawkdev.net

So far I have bought the domain name, set up Joomla, bought a theme, and I'm installing all the addons. This is a very new project, but not a new idea for me.

Tyras: Age of Darknessand my 3D Game I'm working on will be published with this service.

Mockup of the application.

Also the staff so far:

Project Lead/Webmaster: Stealth
Web Programmer/Webmaster: Dark Phoenix
Client Programmer: Toast
Graphic Artist: Dude

Games to be released so far:
Tyras AD
Victim (3D FPS)
Xtreme Asphodel Online
Sword of the Seeker

I think we have enough staff, but we still need a lot more projects on board before I start asking around GameDev.net, devmaster, garagegames, and any other big development site.

I would not be getting really any money at all from this. I think I will actually be loosing money, because I'm offering hosting as part of the deal. But download hosting costs. So any money I made would be going right back into the server. If I had any afterwards I would save it up and hire some people to make the site and client better.

I'm not trying to scam anyone. I'm not trying to make money through this service. I will be making money the same way as anyone who uses this service will. I plan to sell my games and get them more exposure through this service.

Also the new domain is up: http://gravitycommunity.com/

Toast is working on the client, and I think I have a Joomla developer.

I still need more games on board as well as a product till I go to other forums and start advertising.

Also anyone who can help is still wanted I have lots of stuff that needs to be done.

You might run into problems using the name "Gravity", due to the company that makes Ragnarok Online and such.

Well its not a company, its a product. I don't know much about legal stuff like this but I think that we are fine. If we do run into issues we will just change our name, its not that big of a deal.

Also I have the Joomla developer on board and they are starting work. Ill give a release date as soon as I find out when our two teams will be done.

If the name is trademarked or copyrighted, you can't use it. Tongue Just a heads up. I'd have a spare name ready just it case.

Or use something like "Gravindie", a play on the words and such.
