Java was released in 1995. VB6 in 1998. YOU TELL ME WHICH IS OLD. Also, Java is inherently slow because it's INTERPRETED AT RUNTIME. Visual Basic (6.0, still) is compiled into machine code and executed at run time.

VB is simple, but it's the best at what it does.

I agree, its simplicity is un-rivaled;

However you failed to mention Java has been updated constantly, and despite its inherent slowness it can still be bloody fast.

As for it being cross platform.. ^^
