What is this?

Gods Online is a product of the efforts of myself, Rian and Jacob. The goal is to develop a game using Jacob's NGO source, which is a heavily modified version of the source. Jacob is the lead programmer with me and Rian helping when needed.

Where do you guys come in? Well, we want the entire world developed by CAPABLE members of the forums. Any additions to the game will be voted upon before they are added.

What graphics will we use? Well, we have absolutely no idea. We're going to start a thread for that and get your opinions. Bare with us on this a bit.

Who can help? We'll take into consideration each and every member that WANTS to help and place them where they would be best suited.

Hopefully this can bring the community closer as a whole and anyone that decides they do NOT want to help or wants to cause some form of problem, will be removed. Simple as that.

Thoughts? Wink

Very nice initiative. I can help, but I don't have much time, so I can mostly give some code or help solving some problems with AI and mapping stuff (not mapping it self, but developing the map system).

I'll support you, however I won't be any help on the project itself. My forte is programming, and it looks like you already have VERY capable programmers on the team. I'll be here for moral support, though.

We need people to play the game too. Wink

Doesn't mean we won't need players anyway. Tongue

People can also help with promotion and shit like that once we actually get started.

Speaking of which, Jacob is gonna kill me if I don't look at NGO soon..

Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

If you can't take the project for what it is, then don't bother joining. Wink

I'm not going to cater to anyone. Either you wanna help for the fun of helping, for expanding your portfolio, or you don't. Doesn't matter to me, tbh. We can put a team together for the game either way.

That was more directed towards people who will be mapping and developing for the game. Wink

Now dont take this as me being a bitch, because it probably sounds like it but im not trying to be one.

If people are going to produce the work, is the source for everything we put together going to be released to the developers who help work on the project or the general community?

I think rather than making a game we should be consentrating on the development of our engines or using this source and releasing it to the general public for their own personal use. It would make more snese.

If people see a top knotch game a bunch of people in the community have developed they will think "wait a minute, we dont have those features or anything in tutorial format or a copy of that source so there showing off a high-thech engine which will take us about 3 years to make?" I can see people saying exacly this and quitting almost instantly.

We were aiming for help from the more nostalgic people that have a love for Mirage Source and want to see the community flourish and what not.

Learn my name its Jaheoo or ill mawl you to death.

xD

just kidding

BUT LEARN MY DAMN NAME! Big Grin

What makes a game is not the games source or features but its mapping, gui and gfx. Engines should be released and tutorials for all kinds freely in this community hence why it being open-source.

All people in the community should openly release their sources and tutorials and stop selling code to people. This is a 2d game engine for christ sakes.
