GIF Problem

Can someone tell me a way how to insert an image into VB without it looking all crappy. Like when I make a GIF in fireworks its looks decent, then when I put it in the VB form, it looks all distorted. Do I use something other than GIF or what?

Use a JPEG?

Also use common sense. I heard that had good compression.
