You also can't file bankruptcy directly after that. It takes a lot to get approved for it.

i may just convert the names of places to something similar to those in harry potter, like the school can be "Woghorts" etc

thanks 1.8.1. SHOULD be done by the weekend, which will include new areas to hunt AND new areas to explore... since the school's not complete and the new area won't be IN the school I think it's only fair that the whole game is open to players, even though who're still in the school. So I'll add special transportation to and from the places for now.

Oh yeh, i forgot to mention this in any of the news, there are teleportation/aparation spells that let you go to major locations (ministry, diagon alley etc etc) direcly, if you can't afford a broom then you can use these, however, a broom doesn't use all your MP

Fallen Phoenix Online 1.8.1

As anyone who reads the forum will know, 1.8.1 is almost complete.

Well that's a lie, it's now complete and online!

I am having issues with FTP at the moment, so for now the download link is:

New Features:
Hunting areas to explore! - Just leave the castle by going to the entrance stairs and go out to the right. When you hunt you will earn "Credits". This is the game's currency, and will be continuously used, not just 'til 2.0.

Pets available! - The Hogwarts pet shop isn't mapped, but will be VERY soon (tonight most likely), but you will be able to buy your own owl. They will cost 100 credits (which is about 1 hour of hunting or so).

Wand Making! - You can work for the wand shop (I will be temporary owner, until it is bought). All you have to do is go to the trees outside the school grounds, by Hagrid's Hut (which also happens to be just in front of the entrance to the Forbidden Forrest). Just say "cut" in front of it and you will receive a branch. You can carry up to 10 at a time. Then just take them to the castle, there will be a room in the dungeons where you can take them to the table and "chop", when you have a finished wand, just go to the single round table and say "deposit". You will be paid 10 Credits per finished wand.

Field Spells! - Field spells are a PVP combat spell, you can fire one onto the floor in the path of your enemy, if they walk on it they will get damaged over time (the only available one for now, Ignis, will do 3 damage a second over 5 seconds). So they are a VERY useful spell, and for now they don't cost any Mana.

Many more features have been added, but there's not enough time in the day to say everything!

I'm currently online mapping and adding some of the new locations. The maps aren't complete, but they're working, i.e. you can actually visit the places, but the maps will improve for 1.9 or 1.8.2 . Thanks for your support

A slight update:
I've added a few new maps, and a few new places to visit, including the first place you can train your Cooking skill at. However, ingredients aren't yet placed on the map. They will be shortly, wheat will be available by Hagrid's house later tonight. You can make flour from that and bread from that and so on. The cookers are in the common rooms and below the great hall in the house elf's kitchen.

I'm in the process of adding in Slythering common room (just need to edit a script), and Hufflepuff common room. Ravenclaw will be made tonight too when I get the chance to. For now the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff common rooms will be on the same floor as the Gryffindor common room, due to lack of maps. But eventually will be fully placed.

The first classrooms will be added soon too, with the addition of Potion Making. And when the "Spell Learning" system is finally complete, you will be able to pay to learn new spells from NPCs or (when teacher script is finished too) from the hired teachers. They will normally charge around half what the npc will, so it's worth trying to find one first.

Some of the spells in the "learning only" range will include spells to make items, such as items you'll need for cooking and potions. As well as spells to change the weather (which will cost a LOT of mana, so you'll need a high level).

Also, spellbooks will be added into the game soon, which will list the spells you have, as well as the spells you have learnt. This will help you if, like me, you forget spells easily. It will list all of the normally available spells, for your magic level, and (possibly later) what they do. This is in addition to the list that will be on the website shortly.

Temporary downtime.

Due to pc problems beyond my control (need to replace RAM and shizzle... defective RAM -.-) I'm halting production of FPO 'til January 15th (day after my birthday). By then I'll have everything set up to host the game 24/7, and hopefully have made a little progress with the programming side of things (which i can still do in bits)

Sorry for anyone hoping to have a little go on it.

Also, I'm looking for staff, positions:

GM
Community Rep (this role is where you chat to the players and find what they want in a more personal manner, so you can hunt and stuff with them while you chat, you will also have a GM character, the Com Rep will just be a regular character to talk to players on, which will be pre-leveled up to a level high enough to do the work)

NOT DEAD:
The game is not dead, I've just had incredible amounts of work at uni recently, but work will continue in a few days when my work's all done and duster etc

I have plenty of ideas for new stuff for the game, and all of them are pretty damn good!

One very small, and nice, touch I'm adding is Spell Mode. When activated any message you type will be sent as a spell, even without the "cs " at the start.. useful for hunts where you're using voice chat
