Small update:
You can now encounter up to 3 pokemon per tile. It is a random number between 1 and 3 that chooses the pokemon upon stepping on the tile. The pokemon's level will also be a random number between the low level and high level that's set with each pokemon.
This means if the low level is 1 and high level is 5, you can encounter, say, a Pidgey that's level 1 to 5.
I'm working on Jump blocks. Basically they're block tiles that work for only three directions. They'll be used for the shortcuts that you can take through routes.
(There are no level one pokemon in the original)
Your default pokemon you choose is level 5, but you can fight pokemon lower than that in the wild.
I think Egon is right though, you would never encounter a level 1 Pokemon, 2 at the lowest. Not saying it really matters
Yeah I've been trying so far just been able to fight a level 2.

Ah, those. I'll try to add them. Atm, I'm just making it where you can walk through them if you're coming from the right direction.
As for me saying level 1 pokemon, it was, literally, just an example.
will you be able to cut the grass? I am not sure if you should be able to because then all of the grass might go away .
Just set it on some tickcount to have it regrow. He must be thinking about something already for the moving of boulders/cutting of bushes. Also you'll have to make a little spinney sprite for flying with a shadow under that as well (up and down).
What I really want to know is about the snorlaxs and Saint Ann.
Edit: This just came to mind. Will everyone be a son/daughter of that one woman in pallet town? I mean, my god if so.

Nah. Player's will start in Pallet Town, in professor Oak's lab.
What do you mean handle snorlaxs and saint ann?
How Snorlax is blocking the road.
St.Anne was the ship you take.
How are these things going to apply to each player.

Oh. I dunno about Snorlax yet. But the ship will prolly leave at set times and arrive at set times. If you're not on the ship during the right time, you have to wait.
But everyone knows that the S.S. Anne flips over alla the poseidon adventure.

Dude, obviously this can't be 100% like the gameboy game. Rian already stated that some things will be changed, since it's going to be online.
Actually, that only happened in the TV show, so you're good.

That happens after the second VB6 loads.

Eh. I just need a break. I power programmed Blue for a week straight with no breaks in between. Lol.
GIAKEN Wrote:Liz was working on a pokemon game just like this. It was really nice for what was done so far.
'Was' and 'just like this' are a little incorrect.
Matt Wrote:GIAKEN Wrote:Very important with grassy areas: You need to blt part of the grass over the player (if that was in that version or not I can't remember).
Wasn't. Just a small animation of grass flying when they ran through it I think.
I'm really not that worried about it right now. I'll add all the nitpicking things in way later.
No, it is. It's not blitted over the player, Ben. The player is cut in half, the top of the player is only blitted.
