yeah, there will probably not be many people using it. I would hope you could spend your expertice on something good for vbMS 
I know you've done more than anyone could ask for, but we can always hope that once again something amazing is produced by you If you want to make a linux version, do it. If I had the time I would have made a single player game withh toolkit as a side project.
