seeing sprite of new character screen

i get a compile error
variable not confirmed

it highlightes this sub

picSprites.Picture = LoadPicture(App.Path & "\sprites.bmp")
End Sub

i used the tutorial on this forum for this
this error happens when i go on an empty chracter slot and click new chracter
