Game introduction
#1
Just something I've been working on. My new game engine, which you can find in my User-friendly editor topic is based heavily around events, switches and triggers. This means I can have RM2K-style cutscenes, and I'll be using this feature to create a more immersive character creation system.

I'll use this screenshot as a base (Which was shamelessy ripped from one my favourite RM2K games).

A small menu will pop up, allowing the player to select their gender and sprite. After that, the newly created character will appear in the top left, following the path. A small monologue/sililoquy will go on, with the player's character basically filling in some of the background story. After this has finished, the weather will switch to stormy and the player will enter the cave.

The cave itself will be a small, simple map. I'll be having a alpha channeled 'light' filter on top, to give it some ambience, which looks pretty sweet. An old man will be sat in the cave, and the cut scene will have the player walk up and talk to him. During the conversation, the class selection takes place, stat placement, things like that. The back-story to this, is that the player has finally come of age and has taken the journey to see the Elder who'd show him what they'd do in later life. It's an old tradition in this country.

After this has taken place, the character will walk out of the cave and the player will finally have direct control over movement. There's now some basic starter-quests that can be followed, based around a few different organisations. The Royal Guard will be open to players, allowing them to rise in ranks. I have a few other similar organisations planned as well.

Also, I know my writing is terrible. Keep switching between tenses. I need to stop doing drugs..

I'll update later once I have the basics programmed in.
