Well, I've been watching this forum and I've been trying to program but I'm no good. Can anybody help me start off, what do I need? What version of Mirage Source, programming tutorials, what language does Mirage use and what is Visual Basics 6?

Visual Basic 6.0 is the programming language that Mirage Source is coded in. You will need the VB6 IDE (Integrated Development Environment) if you plan on doing any coding and recompiling the engine. The VB6 IDE currently isn't on the market anymore, so you'll either need to buy a copy from eBay or obtain one through another technique.

Programming tutorials can be found all over the internet, but especially at the MSDN Library.

The version of MS I would suggest using is MSE-Build1. Someone might suggest something else, though.

I would suggest mirage 3.0.3 source. You can do what you want to it. Not really supported anymore but there are plenty of tutorials for it.

3.0.7 is the same besides the major change that it uses a database instead of .ini files to store information. It is much faster but has a very steep learning curve.

MSE 1 is probably the most supported and is the newest addition to the mirage family. Might be good for a newb but there is certain rules you need to follow with it.

Also the best way to learn is trial and error, change things and see what they affect(effect?).

Well, William dropped the license for MSE1 when he bought MS. MS303 isn't supported, but it's the same as MSE1 damn near, and nobody will be able to tell if you're not using MSE1.

MS307 just uses mysql, it's not that much harder to learn stuff on, if you can read the code, you can add tables and crap.

There has never really been a lisence for mse1. All it is; release bug fixes. And what jackass doesn't do that?

And yeah, it might tell you to release optimizations. But all optimizations are on the forum that you'll need.

Thanks for your help guys, I have VB6, lol. So when i get the Source of Mirage 3.0.7, I don't know what to do with it.

Start by F'ing stuff up ;D at least that is what I do. ;P

But if you have no experience at all I would say it best to run a compiled version and go into VB at the same time and just learn what code causes the program to do what when you click a button or press a key on your board then move to more complex things from there.
