Post here how you started coding, mapping, making GFX, anything!!! How you started and what your first project was!!!
i started mapping about a year ago when i was 13 using eclipse, it was just for fun so nothing came out of it   ..im currently honeing my gfx skills by replicating other sprites, items, and tiles, and i just started getting interested in codeing a few days ago and im trying to figure out vb6 currently!!!!!
I started using miragesource 3.0.3 shortly after leaving PW-based games. 3.0.7 wasn't out yet. >.>; Making games was just a high-school hobby for me back when I was fourteen.
First project was Dragon Realm Online--a game that had around 10~14 active players each night at peak hour.

I started programming in QBasic on an old BBC Acorn when I was 9. I made a huge text-based RPG which spanned three 5" floppies, as well as a moon lander game.
When I finally got a PC of my own, I made some games in PowerPoint (Srsly..), moved on to Flash, then found Konfuze when I was 13 and programming in VB6 ever since.

Why aren't maps and shit loaded up in a dynamic array?

the 4 people that know how are lazy

Who are those 4 people?
Jacob:
um
you, me, and 2 others?
Found the RPG known as Mystic worlds, which eventually turned into Legends of Kronia. After a while found out that it was made with Mirage Source, stopped by and lurked for a while but left shortly after because i had no idea how to code or work MS. Eventually met a member known as Neo (aka Noel, i think) and came back to MS and began to learn to code. Lost contact with Neo/Noel sadly, would love to findout what ever happened to him =\

Started with PW, in early 2003, then moved to MS(in 2004) and that's basically what I'm still doing. I started making my project since 2003, in PW and moved to MS to work better. I'm releasing a fully operational version(aka beta) in a few weeks, maybe. I've started to work on C since 2005 and C++ in 2007. Now I'm managing to move my game to C++, but it's not done yet xD
Started with lego mindstorms. Got into gamemaker, spent like 3 years wtih it, made a tun of games, found an orpg called ropw in gamemaker, where i made a guild. Guy in my guild had a konfuze game, invited me to it. He shut it down, but wanting to make my my own i googled, and found elysium. The rest you can assume.
Found Elysium Diamond 3.3.0, started to work on that a bit. Managed to bother GIAKEN to the point where he helped me. That was about a year ago. ;D

This is the computer I started on. The keyboard actually had the computer in it.

Lol, that kind of computer can program games as mirage RPG's?
I had a PW game years ago. Then last year found MS again and started doing some tuts. Eventually I got comfortable enough to edit them, and now I'm just awesome.

I started with RM and stuff like that when i was old enough to actually use a computer because I loved games. Got into an online game called WizardDuels (you can still find it in the waybackmachine, wizardduels.com) and elarned PHP/mysql stuff. Got into my own after that went down, though i still keep in contact with the maker. I got into Exofusion and made that a pretty big deal with my friends and in my school since it wasnt blocked from school websites. Then I found mirage pirated my copy of VB6 and started playing around with that, moved to PW and played with that. Then I started actually doing stuff. worked with Konfuze and Elysium alot and really miss Sean and Misunderstood these days. After meddling with C++, C#, Java and things like F#, I am where I am now as a Electrical Engineer who does way mroe software engineering then he would like >.<
ps. i am teh awesome, not jacob.
PC gave me a copy of the UberRPG source then I found out MS existed.
Well I started playing Runescape in 2002 I think...found this flash space game called Stellar Conflicts in 2003. My friend Raygoe made a game with Konfuze Christmas or Milestone and I got on it and fooled around. He specifically told me never to make a game with it because then he wouldn't have as many people on his game...but I started my own game shortly after.
I then worked on my game called "GeoNet Online" from Konfuze to ED2...scripting, mapping, developing, etc...after sadscripting I finally picked up VB6...
