Oookay! I haven't been on the community in a while, but here I am once more with a dilemma, at least it is imo since I can't figure it out.
The connection problem isn't that other people can't connect- they can. I've already forwarded the port through my router and people have been able to play just fine, and I can as well... while I'm on the host PC itself.
The issue I'm running into is now I'm hosting the server on my PC and I want to connect with my laptop. I figure it would put less of a strain on the server by doing so, but when I even load the program it obviously loads my own IP (laptop and PC share the same network) therefore thinks the server is on my laptop for some reason. In turn, that screws over the server by preventing anyone else from connecting because now the port is (I think) pointed at my laptop, which has no server running.
The solution I'm aiming at for here is to be able to run the server on my PC while running the client on my laptop. I'd much rather avoid any illegal activity, so I am not going to resort to using anyone's wireless network in the remote area (though there are quite a few).
Any ideas?
