The Best Engine
#1
Well...I don't know if i'm asking it in the right section 'cuse I'm new and pretty lost here =P (If I'm in the wrong section, please tell me, and sorry)

Ok...I wanted to know, in your opinion, the best mirage-based engine. I already used many: Elysium, Chaos, Eclipse and some more...I know most of you uses your on engine, but considering only the open source ones, which is the best?

Thanks a lot, and again, if I'm in the wrong section, please tell me Smile

Um... Well you are asking at the wrong place.. Everyone here well tell you to use mirage and they all well give you points on why. For you i say find out for your self it is not that hard. Just download and play with what ever engine.

Personally they all have the right idea because if you use any pre made engine like Elysium and Eclipse you have alot of bugs to fix from them. And im not to sure on chaos. I never used.

Well...I tryied many of 'em, the point is: I took my conclusions, but right after, I read posts that said that they're not that good =P

Mirage is nice, but there are many features to be added... I don't know if I'm capable to do it Big Grin

Anyway ... I wanted to hear from you guys, which one is the best?? (not counting mirage) =P

Well, sense you don't want to hear the true answer to your question it seems. (which the true answer would be Mirage) Then I would say Eclipse. Unlike Elysium their community is still going, so there will be updates.

They all suck. Most are built off of Elysium, and the only source code around that's built off that, which is any good, is the Silverdale source. Which isn't, and will never be, released.

Just use Mirage and learn to program. Otherwise, if you don't wanna learn, then why bother with any open source engine?

It looked snazzy but the source code is a pile of wank.

Best engine?

I'd say the new Elysium is probably the best open-source one.

GIAKEN knows more than most of the other engine developers.

Or vBGORE, but personally I think it's overkill for an indie ORPG.

Winds Whisper is of course the best Mirage based engine out there, but unless you want to part with £85... well...

Well...I don't think I'm going to pay Big Grin. So I decided to learn more...I'll use the mirage source

Thanks a lot for your opinion...and I'll try to do my best at learning (cuse until now I just know the basics =P)

There are many engines out there, but it's best to learn to do it on your own.

Engines,
- Xtremeworlds
- Player Worlds

You could try them.
