Registering RICHTX32.OCX Error
#1
[Image: regsvr32issuefe5.png]

I just got my laptop for college yesterday, so I went ahead and started using my old PC (Windows XP) as a mostly dedicated server (I say mostly because you never know what may happen). Trouble is, my laptop is Vista. That's no problem, registering most of the .dlls went fine.

Except for this one, shown above. RICHTX32.OCX and my version of vista don't seem to like each other.

I'll bet this is just some newbie mistake, but better to get the solution than sit here bored out of my mind all night.

Any and all help would be appreciated. ^^

Install the library files instead of registering the file yourself. Odds are it'll work. I've never had a problem with it, nor has anyone who has Vista and plays my game.

The only one you have to manually register is dx7vb.dll.

Also, make sure you go into control panel > users > and disable UAC. It's useless, annoying, and prevents you from doing a lot of crap with MS.

Those didn't work, but then I downloaded the copy of the same .ocx that William posted, and it worked just fine. Weird.

Oh well, I'm hoping that was my last error to fix for this darned vista OS!

There's not many things different with Vista. So you have to register a few dlls, big whoop. The engine runs almost exactly like on XP.
