Promotion? - Matt - 16-10-2006 We all post about our games, none ever really take off, several of my own, included. Then, when one of us does get an open beta out, people from here, create an account, log in once, come here, post stuff about how crappy it is, and then never log in again. So we never really get any players or anything like that. I propose we get together a list of websites where we can promote our games, and actually bring a player base to the game. If you know of any sites, please feel free to list them here, I will update this post as more sites come in. //Current Website(s)\\ /English\ ========>OnRPG ========>MMORPG.net (Add in forums) ========>MMORPG.com ========>MMOSite /German\ ========>MMOPG ========>SpieleForum ========>Giga (TV Channel} - Spodi - 16-10-2006 I dont believe the problem with the games released is that people dont have a good enough advertising source, but that it is run poorly and made poorly and visually unappealing. Even with a game engine, you cant just slap something together in a few weeks and have a great game. - William - 16-10-2006 Thats why Ive been working on my game for app 1 year, and the gfx has been developed over a longer period ![]() - Dark Echo - 16-10-2006 I think the main problem would be that when a player first starts, they dont really know what to do etc.. I reckon a good way to start a ms game would be to make the player feel like they dont need to interact with people to start the game.. Once they get to grips with the game a whole new world will open up.. I believe game play plays a huge part in some of these ms games.. My two cents.. - William - 16-10-2006 Dark Echo Wrote:I think the main problem would be that when a player first starts, they dont really know what to do etc.. You had to be lvl 10 to write in main. And I had no idea what the hell to do.. so i left after 1 minute. The main problem everybody has, is that they make the game so damn messy. Keep it clear and simple in the begining. - Nexarcon - 16-10-2006 Advocate I think you're wrong, if your server is up for long enough stabily you will get players. No matter how incredibly bad your game is... There are games which are absolutely terrible yet have 30 people online even offpeak. But yeah, introduce people to your game slowly and as simple as you can to start off with and make sure as soon as theyre in the game and learn these simple things they can use them in ways that seem really neat to start off with.. - Matt - 16-10-2006 You guys completely misunderstood my post. You guys are saying that promoting only on MS isn't part of the problem? You guys are saying that if we promote on other forums and sites, that it won't bring a higher player base? That's all I'm saying. If we promote more, then we will have more players. But alot of us, have no idea where to promote, aside from here, Elysium, and OnRPG. If you don't want to add to the list, then don't add to it. But don't steer this off topic either. This is not a discussion as to what you guys wish to talk about, but more of a list of websites that people can use to promote their games.. - Gilgamesch - 16-10-2006 mmorpg.com not sure if you add your game just like that...but i think its possible, adn: mmorpg.net in the forum ![]() - Matt - 16-10-2006 Thanks Gil.
