Someone help me with this simple math - Doomy - 29-10-2009

so these three guys went to rent a hotel for a night for $30 so they split it up and paid him $30 and the manager made a mistake and it was $25 not $30. So he gave the boy $5 back to give the guys, the boy stole $2 and gave $3 back to the guys, so its like they paid $9 ea right?

9+9+9 = 27 + 2 = 29

Where did the other $1 go?

It isn't like they paid 9 dollars each, because they never got the other two dollars. All three guys are missing 66 cents. The boy has them. Soo, it isnt like they paid 9 each, its like they paid 9.33 each currently, only because the boy has 2.
Heres the math
Ill use variable abbrevs.
Guy 1 is A
Guy 2 is B
Guy 3 is C
Manager is D
Boy is E
ok
the start is
a=10, b=10, c=10, d=0, e=0
next
a=0,b=0,c=0,d=30,e=0
then
a=1,b=1,c=1,d=25,e=2
So actually,
a+b+c+d+e=30
They did not each pay 9 dollars even though they got 3 back because the boy has 2. The manager and the guys have a total of 28 together, split in 3 is 9 and a third. 9 and a third multiplied by three plus two (9.33 * 3 + 2) is equal to 30, not 29. So one dollar is not actually missing, because the guys didnt actually only pay 9 dollars each when they got the three dollars back, they paid 8.33 each only because the boy has 2 and the manager has 25.

Manager has 25 dollars left.
Kid 1 keeps 2 dollars, so has 2 USD left, and gets another dollar when dividing
Kid 2 gets 1 dollar from dividing
Kid 3 gets 1 dollar from dividing

25+2+1+1+1= 30

Or from your side

9 + 9 + 7= 25

who is? That math doesnt work anyway. using hte term "kid" there are 4, 3 have 1 each, one has 2, manager has 25. a+b+c+D+e works (1+1+1+25+2 = 30)

9+9+9 represents how much was paid. The 3 men end up paying $27 and getting screwed out of $2 (that the boy stole).
$27-$2 = $25, the total amount the men should have paid. The $1 didn't go anywhere.. you just can't add 2.

There are 3 kids + 1 manager. 2 kids have 1 dollar, one kid has 3 dollars.

no. there are 3 guys and the boy. the boy stole two and has $2, the other three guys have 1 each

Guy A,B,C all paid 10 and only got 1 back and have 1 each
Boy has 2
Manager has 25
