Fucking * vs regular * - Labmonkey - 15-08-2009

Whats the difference between saying like "That's cool" and saying "That's fucking cool"? Does it mean anything at all, or is the person just trying to make themselves seem more "hard core" or something?

Adding in "fucking" makes you appear more serious.

I am serious.

I am fucking serious.

See?

I remember someone said to me "I want a fucking toaster that works!" Does that mean they want a toaster that fucks? I asked them and they just laughed.

But when yelled really loud maybe it makes people kind of afraid, or laugh at you.

No. That is completely wrong. I can see how you would think that though, no offense, but you think yourself much higher than most people. It's not something that makes you look less educated, less formal, yes, educated, no. Some of the most intelligent people I've ever met say it. My old English Lit teacher was also a professor and he used that a LOT. Lol.

Re: Fucking * vs regular * - Mithlomion - 16-08-2009

You've been given an answer. Basically, it's added for emphasis.

Damn now you've made in an infinite loop buy using the word in the definition Sad. I'm so confused.

Re: Fucking * vs regular * - Robin - 17-08-2009

Swearing is used so much now, the words barely have any weight in a conversation.

Saying the words are used by uneducated or 'retarded' people is a stupid thing to say, though.

Some of the most articulated people I know use them, and to great effect as well.
