Post tips for beginning Game developers on how to design a game Well.

Protip: Do not make Yet another MMORPG about the Bullshits of the Fantasy-thing kingdom with elves and magic and shite. Be original. or if you Have to make it like that, atleast think of a good plot.

Best tip ever: Don't tell people what to do when they're making a game. A suggestion is different than what you're doing. You're Telling them what to do and what not to do. People here make games to reflect what they want. They don't make games for people to actually play. This is a hobby community and that's really all that will ever come of it.

I'm all about the rules now, but i think I'll let that slide because of the major lolz.

But seriously, let's get some discussion going about tips for game design.

Fantasy is used so much because it's such an easy world to build. I would love to see some cyberpunk or steampunk worlds.

If you really wanna see something original happen, then go the route of modern day instead of all this fantasy stuff. Sci Fi isn't all that great of a genre for 2D games. Same for modern day, but it's not been tried yet. Lol. Fantasy is done because it's actually possible in 2D games and such. Big Grin

Re: Protip: Game Design - Anarchy - 11-07-2009

the best tip would be to design it outside of the computer first (in a notebook or something) that way you know where your going and what you need to code.
