Copy the tibia system, it's trading system (not the P2P one) is easier.

You can keep your item in the open to be shown in front of you, then you drag them over to eachother to trade them.
It's how you play fast hands, toss it in the center, and take turns trying to grab it faster than the other player.

That means you'd had to redo the Pickup system

Yeah, but allowing to pick up items in a 3x3 grid isn't hard to do, it only takes a few minutes.
