Installers - Anthony - 02-04-2008

Referring to MS based games.

Personally I think installers are a waste of time and fail. They are a waste of time. The only practical use I can think of is to register the files but a batch file could easily be made to do this right? Is there really any reason to have an installer for your game? Or is it just something people do to look fancy?

Well if you have to register the files, theres a good chance you'll be needing to move them into the system32 folder, checking if a newer version of the file exists, etc.

Installers are great when you have an audience who are new to the indy game scene.
