My First Engine - Ravuya - 24-03-2008

Hello I am planning to make a new engine so I would just like a few pointers

1.What source code should I use?
2.If you made a Engine around how long did it take you till it was fairly good
3.and please give me any other pieces of advice you have

What name is better for the engine Ravian or Ravium or should I make a new name(and if so give me some idea)

Ambitious are we?
1. Whatever you feel like using, I prefer MSE1
2. Haven't finished mine yet
3. Start slow, do tutorials, then edit them. Then, make your own code, play around with MS. Don't rush and expect it to be perfect.

I'm not good with names, they both don't work IMO.

1. MSE1
2. Took me over 2 months of solid optimisations then around 5 more months worth of features and general fixes.
3. Make a game, not an engine.

1. MSE2 - It's much easier and has many bugs fixed. There are no good reason to stick with MSE1 anymore.

Re: My First Engine - Robin - 26-03-2008

Yes, it has more bug fixes pre-installed, but most, if not all of them, are already tutorialised.

I only recommend MSE1 over MSE2 the same reason I recommend Mirage over any other Engine.

You learn far more by doing things yourself.

If it wasn't for MSE1, I would never have got as good at de-bugging as I am now.

Re: My First Engine - William - 26-03-2008

With that perspective of things he should start from scratch and fix his own bugs. And Im sure he will have enough work to do on MSE2 to learn.

Ya MSE2 is good Im learning fairly fast the tutorials are a great help
