Re: Blue - GIAKEN - 22-03-2009 Liz was working on a pokemon game just like this. It was really nice for what was done so far. Re: Blue - Matt - 22-03-2009 So far, I got the base of the battle system done (graphical only, doesn't show anything other than the backdrop) and the pokemon editor is finished, all aside from assigning the moves it will start with and what not. Saves the name, the two types and the pokemon's sprite/icon in it. Re: Blue - GIAKEN - 22-03-2009 Does the window split into rows and slide out? Re: Blue - Matt - 22-03-2009 GIAKEN Wrote:Does the window split into rows and slide out? Nah. The battle window just appears over the picScreen and an icon will be blit over the player's sprite telling other players he/she is in a battle. Re: Blue - Nean - 22-03-2009 You have quite the team. O.O This game is going to fucking rock. Re: Blue - Matt - 23-03-2009 A VERY early example of the battle system. You walk in tall grass and it randomly starts a battle, based on which pokemon is stored in the tile, you will see a battle that looks like this: ![]() I stepped on a tile and look, a wild Venusaur! Re: Blue - GIAKEN - 23-03-2009 no mudkipz? ![]() Looking pretty good so far. Re: Blue - Matt - 23-03-2009 ![]() All the menu's, aside from the bottom one, is blit onto the screen. ![]() Next is giving player's a starter pokemon and blitting that to show which one is fighting. Re: Blue - Nean - 23-03-2009 Looking good man. Will the pokemon that's on the tile, be randomized? Re: Blue - Matt - 23-03-2009 Nean Wrote:Looking good man. Will the pokemon that's on the tile, be randomized? As it stands, no. But we'll be mapping it out properly and certain tiles will give certain pokemon and what not. Right after I added byte array packets. Re: Blue - Doomy - 24-03-2009 idk how he is going to do it but i cant wait for it Re: Blue - Matt - 24-03-2009 Tony Wrote:How are you going to draw all the battle effects, like bubble, poison, etc with DX7? It's not hard to animate blitted objects. ;D Re: Blue - Tony - 24-03-2009 Matt Wrote:Tony Wrote:How are you going to draw all the battle effects, like bubble, poison, etc with DX7? I remember the bubbles were alpha blended.. The poison effect changes the sprite purple, and some other shizzz. Re: Blue - Matt - 24-03-2009 Tony Wrote:Matt Wrote:Tony Wrote:How are you going to draw all the battle effects, like bubble, poison, etc with DX7? Have you ever played Pokemon Blue? None of that happened. It didn't even have animations. Lol. Re: Blue - Egon - 24-03-2009 Just another reason to use the original graphics.. Re: Blue - Tony - 24-03-2009 Matt Wrote:Tony Wrote:Matt Wrote:Tony Wrote:How are you going to draw all the battle effects, like bubble, poison, etc with DX7? Oh, for some reason I kept thinking your doing it just like Pokemon Fire Red. Probably cause your using it's graphics. Re: Blue - Matt - 24-03-2009 Egon Wrote:Just another reason to use the original graphics.. I told you, if you wanna rip the graphics, I'll program both in and allow the player to choose. I do believe LabMonkey is going to rip the gold/silver graphics for me to try this with. Tony Wrote:Matt Wrote:Tony Wrote:Matt Wrote:Tony Wrote:How are you going to draw all the battle effects, like bubble, poison, etc with DX7? Yeah, sooner or later, I'll add the animations in. I don't currently have a resource for them though. Lol. Re: Blue - Tony - 24-03-2009 http://www.spriters-resource.com/gamebo ... ffects.png Re: Blue - Matt - 24-03-2009 Woot. Thanks. ![]() Re: Blue - Nean - 24-03-2009 I'm REALLY excited about this game. However, I think to make it more like a pokemon game, you should: Assign pokemon to certain areas, and then randomly call a pokemon battle from that area. If that makes sense. |
