Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Robin - 12-12-2007 I know. But I kept on re-programming the GUI in trying to make it look better, and as soon as Rory made my new GUI, I dropped everything and programmed it in. Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Dreamclaw - 13-12-2007 Some may say different, but in my opinion. Priority list; 1. GUI 2. Game engine 3. Be leet (But wait, I already am!) Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Rezeyu - 13-12-2007 You know. I disagree with the Graphics being the msot important to draw people to his game. Why? Because it's not some no name game you've never heard of. When you go to some random game site, then yeah, the looks are a decisive factor for whether or not you want to play. But, It's Pokemon. Everyone already knows what it is, how it plays, and if they like it or not. I doubt that a rabid Pokemon fan is going to ditch it just because it uses default control graphics. Very few people are going to come across it and say "well, I've never heard of this Pokemon thing before!" As with any fan game, there are a shit load of people that will play it JUST because it's there. They just want the immersion. As long as they can do all the crap they can in an offline pokemon game, they'll want to play it, even if if it was in fucking black and white. With games based on something this popular, you don't need to attract players really. It's basically a "you like it, or you don't" kind of thing, and 90% of the time, you know it before taking a look at the game. Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Matt2 - 14-12-2007 Well. Atleast I got some feedback. Better than the original "This game is hideous." I'll indeed work on the GUI abit more. But, Perfekt and Spodi are right on the money. When it comes down to it, I toss the GUI and just get it functional. I'll grab a better GUI later. And enhance some of the features on it. Right now, players type in / commands for everything. xD So, yeah. I'll work on that. Thanks guys! I'll be sure to post a cleaner version the next time I get screenshots out. But atleast you understand the gist of the coding I've done. That's all this post was here to accomplish. Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Spodi - 14-12-2007 My game doesn't even have a GUI (except for if you count the menu as one). It'd just be a waste of time to make one until I need one and know what I want to do with it. Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Spodi - 14-12-2007 Not exactly - depends on what you're doing. It was a bit misleading when I said "my game" - its more of just the engine. All I know I am doing is making a platformer. The rest will be decided when I run out of stuff to do. Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Kenko - 25-12-2007 The GUI is absolutely atrocious. :o Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Robin - 25-12-2007 Darryl's actually posting!? :O Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Andrew - 27-12-2007 NECROOOOOOOOOOO Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Robin - 27-12-2007 RedXIII Wrote:NECROOOOOOOOOOO 10 days is not a necro. 30 days minimum, newfag. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Andrew - 28-12-2007 a conversation ends WAY before 10 days pass. And it's not as if the the post was constructive or contributed at all  Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Rezeyu - 28-12-2007 RedXIII Wrote:And it's not as if the the post was constructive or contributed at all And other posts from the usual members are? Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Andrew - 29-12-2007 Some were. But Kenko was not only late to the party, but forgot the beer. Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Matt2 - 11-01-2008 Wow. Anwyays... I'll be posting screenshots when I get home. I did make the GUI better to look at. ![]() Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Matt2 - 24-01-2008 Double posting to bump. Here are some updated screenshots. Sorry it took me so long. I'm just now remembering I made a topic on this. Dave, does this appeal to you more? ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Anthony - 24-01-2008 I think you should have it looking more like the actual Pokemon games ![]() Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Matt2 - 24-01-2008 You've not played Diamond or Pearl before, have you? Cause if you have, all those graphics are STRAIGHT rips from there... And though you were ignorant to the fact that these are DP, I'm PRETTY sure you coulda figured out that this was sorta Pokemon-y, and done a little search before posting "Make it look like Pokemon" Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Matt2 - 24-01-2008 Do you think PDoA is that far along? xD Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Rezeyu - 24-01-2008 Holy fucking fuck. You have a shit load of forms. XD How are you gonna skin the attack selection? Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Matt2 - 24-01-2008 Code: Button.BackColor = vbRedOrSomething Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Robin - 25-01-2008 If you set anything to vbRED I'll kill you. I hate forms.. Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Anthony - 25-01-2008 Robin Wrote:If you set anything to vbRED I'll kill you. Thats what I was thinking, as to why my original post was the make it more Pokemon like (although I wasn't aware that Diamond and Pearl looked like that). You have to do some sort of a GUI for those buttons man. It would make a world of difference. Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Matt2 - 27-01-2008 I'll do something later. [spoiler] Code: Set Robin. Background = vbRed Take that. Re: Some PdoA Screenshots. - Robin - 27-01-2008 D: |
